Microsoft and its unfair antitrust practices – Connecticut by the numbers

I’ve seen a lot of disturbing news about Microsoft over the last year, and yet I haven’t seen anything to suggest any consequences for these actions, nor have I witnessed Microsoft changing its unfair antitrust practices, updating its security features, or showing any concern for its users . Long gone are the days when Microsoft was held accountable and forced to change through regulation or legislation.

Although I read news last summer about the hacking of the emails of senior U.S. government officials, I was extremely concerned by the follow-up report released in April by the Department of Homeland Security. The disclosure of several operational and strategic failures and security vulnerabilities that, the report said, “collectively point to a corporate culture that has deprioritized both enterprise security investment and rigorous risk management.”

Despite this bombshell, the US government continues to use their products because it is almost impossible for users to consider switching to another software company. This is largely due to Microsoft’s anti-competitive and anti-consumer nature.
