Goa CM sanctions Covid-19 relief for affected people in unorganized sectors

Panaji (Goa) (India), September 23 (ANI): Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday distributed Covid-19 relief to marginalized and unorganized sectors and ex-gratia financial assistance to families of Covid-19 victims.

On Twitter, the CM said that the Goa government stands with those who have been economically affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Praising the efforts of the Goa government, Sawant said that this pandemic relief package will help over 50,000 people employed in unorganized sectors.

“I had promised in the Goa assembly that we would pay Rs 2 lakh for every death due to Covid-19 in the state and now Goa has become the first state in the country to start giving Rs 2 lakh to the families who died due to Covid-19 low-income,” he added.

Sawant mentioned that none of the social sector programs have been stopped even during the pandemic and that the people of Goa will not receive water bills from October. (OR)
