Drupa 2024 Preview: Isra Vision – Kodak


Drupa 2024 returns after eight long years and will be held in Dusseldorf, Germany from May 28 to June 7. In this special series, PrintWeek presents the best exhibitors worth paying attention to at the fair.

Isra Vision (hall 10/A28)
Isra Vision will showcase its comprehensive range of inline inspection solutions for the printing and packaging industry at Drupa 2024 under the theme “Empowering Visual Excellence in Print Inspection.” The company will showcase many new solutions at the show, including the new PrintStar Evo, improved camera technology, a modern graphical user interface and the new ViewStar feature. Isra Vision solutions can help increase process efficiency and product quality, increase productivity and reduce production costs and environmental impact. Visitors can also learn more about new printed sheet metal inspection solutions and innovative digital print inspection solutions.

Intec (hall 8B/A41-1)
Intec’s new B3-plus digital die cutter, the ColorCut FB580, is a powerful machine with all the features of larger cutters. It can cut and crease in one operation, allowing users to easily create prototypes and light production runs. The device is highly specialized and can cut a wide range of materials, from rice paper and synthetic materials to folding cardboard, labels and types of vinyl.

The ColorCut FB580’s maximum substrate surface is 440 x 580 mm, and the operator can adjust the pressure force at three speeds to accommodate complex cutting or fast straight-line cutting. The software includes QR codes, page markers and a reverse side cut function that reads the edges of the sheet. The device has a “cordless” option for repetitive tasks that can be loaded via USB memory.

INX International Ink (hall 3/E83)
INX International Ink is preparing for the return of the world’s leading trade fair for printing and graphic communications technologies. INX will be showcasing a wide range of inks, coatings and color management solutions in Hall 3, Booth E83. This may include improving functional barriers to enable the use of monomaterial structures; the use of colorfast washable inks, such as GenesisO GS washable inks, which can be easily removed in the recycling process; sustainably sourced, naturally-based inks; and inks and coatings designed to be highly durable for repeated reuse and return applications.

IST Metz (hall 1/A24, A24-1)
IST Metz, a leading manufacturer of UV curing systems, will showcase its latest technologies at Drupa 2024. The exhibition will feature a range of UV products, including the Heidelberg Speedmaster CX104-6+LX3 and the HotSwap product concept. Visitors can expect to see UV lamps, UV-LED systems, thermal drying solutions and excimer systems in action. IST Metz will also showcase its UV Analyzer measurement device and showcase its expertise in the next generation of UV curing.

Kama (hall 1/B51)
The manufacturer will show live demonstrations of modern finishing and efficient production of folding cartons using ProCut 76 and FlexFold 52i foils. With these two solutions, Kama offers a complete workflow – from die-cutting and conventional decorating to fully automated Braille box creation and full control.

Kama will also present its fully automated workflow concept at the world’s leading trade fair. This includes an automatic tooling replacement system on the die-cutting machine and robotic transport to the FlexFold 52i folder-gluer.

Kama’s announcement on Drupa introduces the new Kama Hammerhead 76/106, a digital decorating solution designed to integrate with existing workflows. According to the company, this new digital spot coating tool with digital foil applications will redefine the standards in the industry.

KAS Paper Systems (hall 6/E11)
KAS Paper Systems, a British manufacturer of postal machines, will present its latest products at Drupa. The company will be demonstrating its CardMailer card attachment system and its Mailmaster range of envelope systems. The CardMailer machine is a flexible and modular system that matches and attaches plastic or paper cards to letters or other documents. The company will also showcase its latest Mailmaster Ascent envelope inserter, which can load up to 8,000 envelopes per hour, and the Mailmaster 465 envelope inserter, which can load up to 6,000 envelopes per hour. The KASFold 640 large-format booklet maker and trimmer will also be presented.

Kongsberg (hall 8A/B43)
The Kongsberg Ultimate will be showcased at its booth, highlighting its fast acceleration, top speed, user-friendly interface and other features. Thanks to the new drive technology, Kongsberg Ultimate offers acceleration of up to 2.74 G and a cutting speed of 168 meters per minute.

The Kongsberg C68 Exact offers precision and is intended for industries requiring high accuracy. The machine can precisely cut paper, plastics and flexible materials with an area of ​​3210 x 6400 mm.

Kongsberg will also showcase its portfolio of Multicam CNC routers and Kongsberg C tables. Live demonstrations are planned with software partners to showcase various workflow applications.

Must see: Koenig & Bauer (hall 16/A31-1, A31-5, hall 3/B31)
Koenig & Bauer (K&B) announced that it will focus on the packaging and digital solutions market at Drupa. Exceeding Print’s strategy is based on three pillars: sustainable development, digitalization and modularity. These three pillars will set a common theme for all presentations and offer visitors insight into opportunities to improve print production efficiency.

The company will present the comprehensive packaging process, from preparation for printing to printing, die-cutting and gluing folded cartons. All machines and presses on display at Drupa, such as the Rapida 106 X, VariJET 106, CutPRO compared to previous generations. K&B claims that these machines set new standards in folding box production.

Dust (hall 3/E71)
Kurz’s initiatives include Wow Silverline digital metal foil, Beast – which combines digital printing with a metal coating and transfer process to create metalized surfaces, cost-effective Ecofin foil, new software called Dream Composer for embellishment mockup design, a printing device with security features of called Single Image Offset, and Kurz’s sustainability initiatives, such as reducing plastic consumption and recycling waste. Kurz will also be represented at Drupa across the packaging, sustainability and textiles contact points to bring its focused expertise to customers and stakeholders.

Kyocera (Hall 8A/C20)
Kyocera Document Solutions Europe will present its latest commercial inkjet printers at Drupa. Taskalfa Pro 55000c and Taskalfa Pro 15000c will be presented at the exhibition.
Taskalfa Pro 55000c was launched in the US in 2023, while Taskalfa Pro 15000c returns to Drupa. The Kyocera team’s goal is to demonstrate the power of inkjet technology and the small size of these devices.

Using inkjet technology, the Taskalfa Pro 55000c features energy efficiency and minimal maintenance, making it an ideal choice for the graphics space. Its media versatility opens up a world of creative possibilities, increasing your productivity and unlocking your artistic potential. As Kyocera’s inkjet printer lineup expands, these two machines, particularly the Taskalfa Pro 55000c, take center stage at Drupa 2024, promising to captivate and inspire.

Must see: Komori (hall 14/D60)
The new 29-inch digital sheet-fed UV inkjet printing machine is the latest addition to the company’s digital portfolio, which already consists of the Impremia IS29, a 29-inch sheet-fed digital UV inkjet printing system, and the Impremia NS40, a 40-inch sheet-fed nanographic printing system.

The newly designed Komori J-throne 29 can print at 6,000 pages per hour in single-sided printing mode, which is the fastest speed achieved by a B2+ inkjet press. For double-sided printing, it can print at a speed of 3,000 sheets per hour using a precision refinement mechanism based on Komori’s 100 years of experience in offset printing technology.

Imaging Technology The Komori J-throne 29 uses Komori’s patented imaging technology. In addition, this newly designed digital press, using Komori’s newly developed UV inks with LED curing, has the additional ability to print on a wide range of substrates such as coated and uncoated papers and boards, without pre-treatment, making it a suitable digital press for printing commercial markets , packaging and specialized printing.

Must see: Konica Minolta (hall 8B/A40-1, A40-6)
At Drupa, Konica Minolta will showcase AI-powered automated production lines, an online store, unprecedented use of robotics and software solutions, and major advances in remote service engineering. The company announced details of the AccurioJet 60000 inkjet machine, which enables double-sided printing at speeds of up to 6,000 sheets per hour.

Konica Minolta and its partner, MGI Digital Printing Systems, will demonstrate how separate processes such as foiling, varnishing, printing, folding and drying can be combined into one fully integrated production cycle, in which MGI’s AlphaJet will take center stage and will show you the benefits of a complete single pass factory.

Various products will be on display for the first time, including the Konica Minolta AccurioPress C84hc. This printer uses high saturation toner that produces consistently bright and vivid colors. It is the only platform in the world that uses this new toner, without the limitations imposed by the color gamut of regular toners. Other new products include the Cobot-robotics arm, new options for the MGI JetVarnish 3DWeb 400 such as JetSeal and inline die, and an updated version of the AccurioPro Color Manager suite of software solutions.

Must See: Kodak (Hall 5/A02-1, A02-2) At Drupa 2024, Kodak will showcase breakthrough continuous inkjet technology and solutions for traditional printing, all designed to help printers maximize profitability as the industry evolves. The Kodak Prosper Ultra 520 press will demonstrate its ability to match the quality of offset printing and handle applications requiring high ink coverage on glossy papers with outstanding performance. Attendees will also be impressed by the Magnus Q800 Platesetter, an eight-page CTP platesetter that exposes up to 84 plates per hour. Featuring faster imaging, exceptional clarity and durability that make it suitable for extremely long runs, Sonora Xtra process-free plates are expected to be a hit. Additionally, Kodak’s Prinergy platform, the first scalable, end-to-end software platform in the printing industry, will be showcased along with Prinergy Access and Business Solutions, a set of tools designed to connect, share and automate processes between organizations using MIS/ERP, eCommerce and collaboration tools.
