21 people were injured by pyrotechnics, two of them are in serious condition

Over the last few hours, 21 cases of injuries resulting from the explosion of pyrotechnic devices were treated within the Emergency Service of the Kosovo University Clinical Center (QKUK).

Two of them are in a more serious condition, as one patient was injured by a blank bullet and the other was injured by fireworks. One of the injured continues treatment at the Plastic Surgery Clinic, the other at the Ophthalmology Clinic. Meanwhile, the remaining injured were released home after receiving help. This is according to the director of the Emergency Medical Service, Naser Syla, noting that the age of patients who have been injured as a result of the use of pyrotechnic tools ranges from a 6-year-old to an elderly person over 60 years of age. old. Syla added that approximately 217 patients came to the Emergency Department in the last 18 hours.

Director of the Emergency Medical Service Naser Syla emphasized that today they are overloaded due to the transfer of what he calls uncontrolled patients from regional hospitals and family medicine ambulances.

Otherwise, the Kosovo Police, in order to manage the security situation during the weather change holiday, has prepared an operational order “End of the year – 2023 and beginning of 2024”, according to which the increase of police presence on the streets and in open spaces, squares and places frequented by residents.
