The Indian army prevented a tragedy in Manipur by defusing three explosive devices

The Indian Army has announced that it has prevented explosions in conflict-torn Manipur by defusing three IEDs placed on a road in Imphal East district.

The vigilance and vigilance of Indian Army personnel deployed in Manipur under the Red Shield Division led to the successful defusion of three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in Imphal East District late on Saturday evening, averting a major tragedy.

A statement issued by PRO Defense of Manipur, Nagaland and South Arunachal said the IED was found on the road connecting Nongdam Tangkhul and Etham Tangkhul villages, near Maphou Dam.

During a routine area domination and surveillance operation, Army personnel observed three IEDs placed along the road. The army column acted quickly and cordoned off the area.

The bomb disposal squad then arrived on site and safely defused the IED, thereby preventing potential loss of life and injury to residents.

The discovery of the explosives came just days after unidentified assailants shot dead a 41-year-old man, injuring two others, in the Naoremthong area of ​​Imphal West district in Manipur.

According to a police statement, the incident occurred on May 18 in front of the apartment they rented.

The deceased was identified as Shree Ram Hangsada, a resident of Jharkhand. The injured were Bittu Murmu (22) and Mitalal Soran (50).

The army’s swift action to defuse the IED reflects its commitment to maintaining peace and security in Manipur. This incident highlights the ongoing security challenges facing the region, highlighted by recent violent events.
