Fire and Acoustic Seals opens new e-commerce site

FIRE AND Acoustic Seals (FAS), a specialist manufacturer of gaskets and sealants for fire, smoke and acoustic doors, has launched a new website. The site offers “significantly improved” e-commerce functionality and additional customer features that include an online login area to view invoices and receipts.

Customers can now search for products by name, product type, and brand with an easy-to-use search function and filters. Indeed, the new site offers comprehensive listings of all fire and acoustic sealing products, along with technical information, videos and pricing options for single and bulk products.

Other key features of the new site include:

*Technical Advisory Center to help customers choose the right products for their project, including FAQs, how-to videos and advice-based articles

*brand filters for private label and industry partner products, providing customers with a choice of specifications, price tags and finishes (FAS, Lorient, Pyroplex, CCE, UAP and Vanquish)

*bestseller lists of popular products such as FAS fire door foam and CCE Applique drop seal

*dedicated case studies and news sections

*promotion of next day delivery service and other delivery options

CPD training

The website also includes a dedicated area for a new online Continuing Professional Development training course in Fire Door Installation (CPD), which will help users learn the correct way to install Fire Door Foam and FAS Intumescent Acrylic Fire Door Sealant in a door fire environment.

On completion of the course, participants will receive a FireQual certificate and will be automatically added to the approved UK fire door training database.

Julian Vollans, managing director of Fire and Acoustic Seals, told Fire Safety Matters: “We knew the old plant required modernization and saw the investment we had made as a key part of our business development strategy. We wanted to create a site that would provide customers with a much better and more detailed online shopping experience, with a detailed list of all available products and all related technical information and advice.

Vollans continued: “We employ technical experts, which is a bit different from many similar online companies, so we wanted to highlight this in the ‘Technical advice and support’ section, where there is useful information. This is something our team will add to over time as customers provide feedback on specific questions and requests.”

Limitation of administration

The new website specifications included the need for simple internal updates, which in turn helped reduce the administrative burden on the internal team.

“This led us to choose WordPress,” added Vollans, “which automatically pulls real-time price updates from the inventory control system and provides a login area for customers to select invoices after any purchases. I am absolutely confident that the new website and the subsequent work we will do to improve our offering will make this the online destination for all fire, smoke and acoustic products.”
