Rainbow Six Siege’s first operator returns next month

Today, Ubisoft revealed the second season of Year 9 of Rainbow Six Siege, Operation New Blood. This season comes a complete remaster of Recruit, the beloved original Operator, influential balance changes, the introduction of R6 membership, and other important gameplay updates such as playlist optimizations and player experience changes.

After nine years, Siege reinvents its first Operator. The Recruit now has a fresh look and includes two new archetypes to play as an attacker or defender, as well as the ability to customize their loadout by selecting two available gadgets depending on their role. This allows the Recruit to adapt to players’ strategies, fill in gaps where needed, and provide new players with the opportunity to explore a variety of additional gadgets and gameplay tactics. Forward, an offensive recruit, can choose two different gadgets from a wide range of additional offensive gadgets.

They are armed with an M4 or M249 as their primary weapon and a 5.7 USG or ITA 125 as their secondary weapon. A defensive recruit, the Sentinel can choose from any additional defensive gadget in the arsenal. Sentry’s kit includes a Commando 9 or M870 as a primary weapon and a C75 Auto or Super Shorty as a secondary weapon. Since all players have access to the Recruit, Premium Battle Pass holders will receive an Operator Coupon that can be redeemed for any Operator. Players with all available Operators will receive 600 R6 Credits.

Rainbow Six Siege continues to emphasize fair and strategic play in Season 2 of Year 9. With Operation New Blood, balance changes are being made for defending Operators Fenrir and Solis, who were too strong in matches and required a lot of attention from attackers . The number of F-Natt Terror Mines in Fenrir’s possession has been reduced to 4 and they are no longer bulletproof. Additionally, in the first part of Solis’ balance update, the duration and range of her SPEC-IO Electro Sensor were reduced to reflect player feedback and maintain balance between attackers and defenders.

R6 membership will also be available this season. Active Members will enjoy exclusive content each month, including limited-time gear, animated Legendary skins, 10x Battle Level Skip, Bravo Bundle, and access to the Premium Battle Pass. Once the Marketplace beta launches on June 25, players who have two-factor authentication enabled and are at least level 25 will have access to the Rainbow Six Siege Marketplace, where they can trade skins securely and anonymously for R6 Credits.

Operation New Blood adds a standard map filter with the ability to select Ranked Map Pool, Unranked Map Pool, and All Maps. Players can now choose unranked matchmaking to resemble casual or competitive play. Training and onboarding remain a priority, and significant updates ensure new and veteran employees have the opportunity to sharpen their skills. Players can now practice aiming and navigating the map with feedback in Endless Drill. The Versus AI game also includes significant additions to maps and operators that diversify the training. Other updates for this season include changes to Caster Cards to improve the experience, changes to the stadium layout, as well as updates to the player experience in terms of audio and flash customization.

Rainbow Six Siege is now available to play on Ubisoft+, Ubisoft’s PS subscription service4, P.S5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, including Steam and Amazon Luna.
