VitalWare Announces Response to ICD-10 Implementation Extension

YAKIMA, WA–(Marketwired – April 1, 2014) – Today, VitalWare, a leader in business intelligence for ICD-10 and later, announced its response to the continued passage of H.R. 4302 – Protecting Access to Medicare, which includes language extension of the implementation of ICD-10-CM/PCS until October 1, 2015.

“While we are not surprised, we understand the latest decision. Like many companies in the healthcare industry, VitalWare has been preparing to implement ICD-10,” said Executive Vice President Jacob Nguyen. “In light of the recent announcement, we will use the additional time to enhance the functionality of our ICD-10 software while continuing to offer innovative solutions for ICD-10 training, support and implementation assistance.”

“Our strategy has been to diversify our suite of software solutions across the Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) and the Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS),” Nguyen continued. “This diversity will enable our customers and partners to continue to benefit from our product suite for ICD-9, ICD-10 and Chargemaster, thus providing next-generation revenue cycle solutions.”

“VitalWare encourages physicians, hospitals and healthcare organizations to use the additional time to improve and test the accuracy of their clinical documentation, improve audit processes and acquire tools to increase clinician productivity to prepare for ICD-10,” Nguyen added. “VitalWare believes that improving clinical documentation, coding, billing and auditing are important processes to maintain revenue and maintain compliance.”

“Hospitals and doctors strive to provide amazing patient care; VitalWare will continue to help suppliers streamline and increase operational efficiency across their revenue cycle needs. We are confident that this distinction in our comprehensive product portfolio will ensure continued and focused engagement with our current and future customers to achieve next-generation revenue cycle success,” Nguyen concluded.
