Smart Products Plc appoints Olanrewaju Ogunlana as Managing Director/CEO

The Board of Smart Products Nigeria Plc has appointed Mr. Olanrewaju Ogunlan as the Managing Director/CEO of the company.

The company also appointed Mr. Olanrewaju Afolabi Olatunji and Ms. Onafujabi Kudrat Olusola as non-executive directors.

This was contained in the company’s notice to the Nigerian Exchange Limited, seen by Nairametrics.

The nominations are subject to ratification at the next Annual General Meeting of the Company scheduled for June 2024.

Profile of Olanrewaju Ogunlana

According to the company’s statement, Olanrewaju is a highly experienced investment banker and capital market specialist.

He obtained a BA (Hons) in Economics from Bowen University in Iwo (2008). He has over 13 years of professional experience in investment banking, pension fund administration, insurance, risk management and securities trading.

He is currently the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (Designate) of Smart Products Nigeria Plc, prior to joining Smart Products Nigeria Plc, he was the Group Director of Business Development at Afrinvest (West Africa) Limited.

He was a senior associate at Afrinvest Capital Limited, leading deal origination, deal origination and sales. Prior to joining Afrinvest, he was Deputy Manager and Head of the Corporate Finance Team at AT&A Capital Limited.

Previously, he was the head of the investment banking team in the MorganCapital Investment Banking Group and the chief risk officer at MorganCapital Securities Limited, where he was responsible for fundraising in the Investment Banking group and led enterprise risk management and business risk reduction.

Over the past 12 years, he has been involved in fundraising programs that have helped state governments and corporations raise over $400 billion.

He also helped numerous private sector organizations raise funds from the Capital Market.

He has very good contacts with many investors/fund managers from Africa and emerging markets. He is also registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission as a capital markets specialist.

Afolabi Olatunji profile

Lanre Afolabi is currently the Managing Partner of OOPP Nigeria Limited; local development and construction company.

He brings over 24 years of experience to this position, including board and executive level experience in the financial services sector; starting from mortgage banking through investment/commercial banking.

At various times, he managed the management boards of companies providing financial services as president and member of the management board. Prior to entering into business with OOPP Nigeria Limited, he was the Group Chief Operating Officer (GCOO) of Femab Group of Companies with significant interests in real estate, mining and quarrying, dredging, logistics, facilities management and also managed the offshore office in Sierra Leone, which is responsible for the implementation IPAM University project supported by the Government of Sierra Leone.

Kudrat Olusola profile

Olushola currently serves as the CEO of Globevest Capital Partners Limited. Sales and investment expert. He has extensive experience in real estate, financial services, professional services and management consulting, culminating in fifteen years of professional experience and ten years of management experience.

Olushola started her career in banking in 2004 at the then City Express Bank for 2 years before joining the mortgage banking sector where she was promoted to the position of director of treasury and investments before leaving. She worked for Cititrust Holdings Plc for a short time.

She briefly worked at Logic Attainment, an IT solutions company, as a business development (B2B) director. He holds a Diploma in Educational Leadership and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and is a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants and a Certified Management Consultant (CMC).
