High stakes for Gov Eno volunteer groups in education, other

May 27 (THEWILL) – The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, in his first year in office as governor, has praised his achievements in the fields of education, agriculture and aviation development among other sectors.

In a statement titled “Governor Umo Eno Exceeds Expectations” and shared with our correspondent, the volunteer group under the aegis of ARISE Ambassadors noted that in the last 365 days, we have witnessed a people-centric government led by Pastor Umo Eno.

The statement endorsed by the Chief Information Officer, Paul Ufot, noted that the group had assigned itself the responsibility of assessing the administration of Pastor Umo Eno on its progress and failures, projecting and defining the destiny of Akwa Ibom State soon under the current administration.

According to the release, the success of the administration, popularly known as the Golden Era, began with changes in roads and other infrastructure after the implementation of about 80 road projects, some of which were inherited from previous administrations.

“Governor Eno has achieved sustainable development in an impressive way. Some roads have already been put into use, others are under construction at various stages of construction.

“A very key sector in which the Governor has timely intervened is the education sector where he has raised the banner of spotlessness and elevated Akwa Ibom State to a totem of a bright future secured with lofty policies and programs.

“The mayor started building education in the state from scratch. Two model primary schools have already been opened. Model primary schools have state-of-the-art educational facilities, sports facilities and living quarters for teachers to encourage them to give their best to children.

“Moreso provides children with free textbooks, school uniforms, school bags and school shoes to complement the efforts of their parents/guardians. This removes a huge burden from sponsors while achieving the goal of getting children excited about learning at this sensitive age.

“Governor Umo Eno’s love for education also necessitated the creation of a 100 million Naira education trust fund for persons with disabilities studying in tertiary institutions to benefit all Nigerians, irrespective of their country of origin.

“The governor also facilitated the payment of scholarships to students of Akwa Ibom State tertiary institutions to alleviate their financial needs.” – explained in the statement.

The ARISE ambassadors described the governor’s vision for agriculture as unprecedented, recalling that after assuming duties as the Chief Executive Officer of the state, Eno led an influential delegation to Port Novo in Benin Republic to examine the exploits and successes of Songhai Farms, which has already been replicated in Akwa Ibom State as the Ibom Model Farms.

A farm that can be likened to the Garden of Eden, which aims to ensure food sufficiency and security for the people of Akwa Ibom. It is enough that the governor properly mobilized people to farm through effective agricultural policies.

“It was a masterstroke for Governor Umo Eno when, through the Ibom Leadership Development and Entrepreneurship Development Program (Ibom LED), Governor Umo Eno stopped 800 youths from falling into poverty and replaced their fate with a life of flourishing and hope with a massive empowerment of 400 Million Naira 500,000 Naira each so that they can either start a business or contribute to an existing business as entrepreneurs.

“The Governor sowed the seeds of prosperity for Akwa Ibom State in the fertile soil of aviation sector development by creating a second taxiway at Victor Attah International Airport in addition to the International Terminal Building,” he added in the statement.

She hailed lasting peace as one of the major achievements of the previous administration of Udom Emmanuel, inherited by the Umo Eno administration, stating that in order to maintain peace, Governor Eno created the Ministry of Internal Security and Waterways Management and appointed retired Nigerian Army General, Captain Iniobong Ekong, as virgin commissioner.

“Furthermore, Governor Eno has added another Ibom Community Watch initiative which serves as useful intelligence to regular security agencies. The initiative, apart from the peace it brought to the people of Akwa Ibom, also created profitable activities for the youth of the 31 local government areas in the state.

“The peace is further complemented by the Governor’s support to security agencies such as the transfer of gunboats to the Navy and other logistical support to security agencies to help nip criminality in the bud in the state.

The volunteer group also assessed the robust healthcare policies and programs that are revolutionizing the healthcare sector, starting with primary healthcare where some primary healthcare centers have already been operationalized and equipped.

He sees the payment of gratuities and other benefits to pensioners as a major achievement of the Umo Eno administration, which has been a major problem for subsequent administrations and has resulted in repeated decimals for subsequent administrations due to the huge accumulation of debts in this direction.

However, we have witnessed the Governor put smiles on the faces of retirees in the state as he has already distributed approximately P20 billion to pay their severance and other benefits, especially to retired elementary school teachers.

Distribution of free food to vulnerable members of society through bulk purchasing agencies, as well as Houses of Compassion built for widows and other disadvantaged members of society. is another milestone captured by ARISE Ambassadors who say it shows the caring and compassionate leader Umo Eno.

“Governor Umo Eno has a plan for everyone. “His priority is the well-being of all, which has necessitated the implementation of housing projects currently being built in the state for the sake of those who may not have what it takes to acquire land and build their own homes,” the statement concluded.
