For an ambitious Leicestershire company, takeover is child’s play

The Kid Collective, the Leicester-based e-commerce retailer, has bought Scandibørn, a supplier of Scandinavian-inspired children’s toys, home furnishings and accessories, from Nottingham-based Findel Education for an undisclosed sum.

Founded in 2016, Scandibørn has built a strong reputation for offering the highest quality toys, home accessories, furniture and gifts for children.

“We are very excited to welcome Scandibørn to The Kid Collective family,” said Laura Davies, founder and CEO of The Kid Collective.

She added: “This acquisition represents a key moment in our growth journey in the industry and we look forward to leveraging our expertise to continue to provide the Scandiborn community with products we know they will love!”

The Kids Collective says the acquisition of Scandibørn and its established customer base will enable it to expand its e-commerce portfolio and reach a wider audience.

Scandibørn will continue to offer a wide range of gifts, children’s clothing, maternity products and home furnishings for newborns and toddlers, while The Kid Collective continues its roots in the play category, for toddlers and early years.

Chris Mahady, CEO of Findel Education, said: “We are delighted that Scandibørn has become a great new home with The Kid Collective, where it will become part of a fully focused online retail operation.

As part of Findel’s recent change in business ownership following its recent acquisition by Manutan, this decision was made to ensure that Findel focuses resources, time and attention on its core B2B education brands, which are its area of expertise.
