Sungrow provides technology for photovoltaic installation and storage CleanPeak – pv warehouse Australia

CleanPeak Energy has selected Chinese manufacturer Sungrow to supply inverter and battery technology for a 5MW rooftop solar system and an 11MWh battery installed atop Arnott’s Group’s manufacturing facility in western Sydney.

Construction has begun on what is being described as one of the largest integrated behind-the-meter solar and battery installations in Australia, with distributed energy specialist CleanPeak starting work on a 4.95MW/11MWh solar and energy storage system being installed at the manufacturing plant Arnott’s Huntingwood facility.

Arnott’s, which is popular with clients such as Tim Tams and Shapes, said the solar and energy storage project is part of a transition to renewable electricity it aims to achieve 100% by 2029.

The 44,000-square-meter Huntingwood facility operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week and operates five automated production lines, producing approximately 53% of the company’s total biscuit volume, or approximately 56 million kilograms of biscuits annually.

CleanPeak, which operates approximately 40 distributed power plants across the country, intends to deliver more than 7 GWh of renewable energy through a 5 MW, 4.6 MW rooftop photovoltaic system that will be integrated with an 11 MWh battery energy storage system.

The system will use Sungrow’s SG4950HV-MV inverter, delivered in a 40-foot container that includes an integrated MV transformer, switchgear and an auxiliary LV power supply. The company said the inverter’s ability to operate at high voltage ensures efficient power transmission and minimized losses.

“The inverter’s intelligent operation and maintenance system ensures precise energy management, optimizing performance in various weather conditions,” Sungrow said.

CleanPeak chief executive Philip Graham said Sungrow was selected to participate in the project following a comprehensive selection process to deliver “one of the largest integrated behind-the-meter solar/battery projects in Australia”.

“Our customer Arnott’s will receive ‘safe’ renewable energy at its Huntingwood facility, ensuring its iconic Tim Tam Biscuit will be produced from renewable energy for many years to come,” he said.

Sydney-based CleanPeak will also build a 1.3MW rooftop solar PV system at its Arnott Virginia manufacturing facility in Queensland.
