INDIA’s allied government will end Agniveera plan: Priyanka Gandhi

Shimla/Chamba, May 27 (UNI) Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Monday said the alliance with India, if voted to power, would end the controversial Agniveer plan as the BJP government is agitating a large number of youngsters aspiring to join the Indian armed forces.

Addressing a public meeting in Chamba to seek support for Congress candidate Anand Sharma from Kangra Lok Sabha constituency

Priyanka criticized the program for putting young people out of work after four years without pension and financial support in case of martyrdom.

She emphasized Congress’s commitment to securing employee and retirement benefits, contrasting it with the perceived shortcomings of the current government’s policies.

Priyanka Gandhi has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of destabilizing the honest state government of Himachal Pradesh with financial power.

She accused Modi of putting the interests of his billionaire friends above the needs of ordinary people and failing to provide financial assistance to Himachal during the disaster.

She claimed that Modi’s policies have exacerbated inflation and unemployment, adversely affecting ordinary citizens and apple growers due to reduced import duties on apples.

Praising Chief Minister Sukhu, Priyanka highlighted the state government’s commitment to serving the people despite the challenges.

She praised the state administration for delivering on guarantees such as restoring old pensions and implementing a Rs 1,500 pension scheme.

She emphasized that the government, guided by clear intentions and using its resources, effectively supported families affected by the disaster.

Priyanka Gandhi has stated that if the Indian government votes to power under the Lakhpati Deedi scheme, Rs 8,500 per month and Rs 1 lakh per year will be paid to the woman in every family.

She said the Congress has given assurance to fill 30 lakh vacant government posts with 50 per cent reservation for women, doubling of honorarium of Anganwadi and Asha workers, minimum support price, compensation within 30 days for crop damage, creation of loan waiver commission and waiver of GST on agricultural equipment.

Priyanka said that the Congress will launch nationwide free health insurance providing treatment to people up to Rs 25 lakh as these schemes have already been launched by the Congress government in Rajasthan.

She said the party would provide MNREGA workers with a salary of Rs 400 and extend the scheme to urban areas.

The Congress leader urged the electorate to support Anand Sharma from Kangra district, assuring that his victory would bring positive changes and fulfillment of the promises made.
