The excitement and enthusiasm around artificial intelligence (AI) has pushed the technology ahead of regulation. Intelligence Systems. Overall, however, existing AI legislation remains limited.

Europe is close to agreement on one of the most important proposals, the EU law on artificial intelligence, which could serve as a model for other regions. In December 2023, the EU Parliament and the Council reached a provisional agreement on potentially groundbreaking legislation that aims to provide a framework for the development, deployment and use of artificial intelligence systems within the EU. “The Artificial Intelligence Act is extremely useful and plays a major role in ensuring that companies are honest and ethical in how they use artificial intelligence,” says Pedro Pacheco, research vice president at Gartner’s CIO Research Group.
