Colorado’s antitrust lawsuit against the NCAA upholds athletes’ claims

Former college athletes are maintaining antitrust claims against the National Collegiate Athletic Association in Colorado, despite the organization’s nearly $2.8 billion settlement to stave off lawsuits.

Last week, the NCAA and its Power Five conferences announced a proposed settlement and agreed to begin paying college athletes directly and sharing sports revenue with them. The changes were aimed at resolving claims in three ongoing antitrust lawsuits challenging NCAA caps on student salaries, one of which was deemed a class action lawsuit last year.

But the settlement does not cover a proposed class action lawsuit against the NCAA filed by a former university…
