GE Vernova will sign a contract to supply solar energy in Turkey

announced that it has signed an agreement with Kalyon PV to supply the FLEXINVERTERTM solar power plant, as well as design and engineering services for Kalyon PV in Viransehir, Turkey. Inogen, a regional solution provider for GE Vernova, will be responsible for the construction and installation of the solar power plant.

The GE Vernova solar power plant is expected to power Kalyon Enerji’s 157 MW photovoltaic (PV) plant, making Kalyon Enerji one of the first companies in Turkey to produce 100% renewable energy solar panels at launch.

“We are proud to be a driving force in Turkey’s clean energy transition. By investing in the production of solar panels and supplying them to large solar power plants, we not only provide sustainable energy solutions, but also create jobs and contribute to Turkey’s energy independence,” said Murtaza Ata, board member of Kalyon PV.

“Having implemented several Renewable Energy Resource Zones (YEKA) projects in Turkey, we are now focusing on industries that want to produce energy on an industrial scale for their own needs through photovoltaic projects such as the Kalyon PV solar power plant in Viransehir and renewable hybrid projects, including large-scale storage. We offer comprehensive financing to support our clients, which includes support from export credit agencies. This financing package enables us to provide competitive financing options to facilitate and increase the adoption of renewable energy technologies in the energy sector,” added Megi Gabriyel, regional leader for solar and storage solutions for the Middle East, Africa and Turkey at GE Vernova.

This collaboration builds on existing relationships and leverages the success of Kalyon Enerji’s 1,347 MWp/1,000 MWe Karapinar solar power plant in Konya Karapinar province, which has implemented GE Vernova’s FLEXINVERTERTM solar technology. Launched in 2023, the Karapinar facility is the largest single source of solar energy in Turkey to date. The project was part of Turkey’s first YEKA GES solar tender announced in 2017 by the Turkish Ministry of Energy under the Renewable Energy Resource Zone (YEKA) program, which facilitates the development of large-scale solar and wind farms.
