Inspiring Healthcare CEO to Step Down

MedTech visits

The chief executive of Inspiration Healthcare Group plc is to step down this week.

The global technology company pioneering neonatal intensive care medical devices has announced that Neil Campbell will leave his role on Wednesday (May 30) and become a non-executive director.

At the end of June, he will formally leave the company on a full-time basis and become a business consultant as a “global advocate”, supporting key relationships and business development opportunities.

Campbell, one of the company’s original founders, has been with the group for more than 20 years and was appointed CEO in 2015.

At the request of the board, Roy Davis, non-executive chairman, is to become executive chairman and interim CEO until the option of a new permanent CEO is considered.

Inspiration Healthcare has a market capitalization of £11.2m. The company’s share price has fallen from 45p a year ago to around 16p today.

“I am delighted to be making the transition from an executive to a non-executive role at Inspiration Healthcare,” said Campbell. “Although the company has faced some challenges recently, I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved since we launched 20 years ago to where we are today.

“I look forward to continuing to contribute to the business as a non-executive director.”

Davis held executive positions at a number of publicly cited MedTech companies, including non-executive chairman of Medica Group PLC, a leading UK tele-radiology company, until its acquisition by IK Partners for £269 million this year.

He was also CEO of Optos plc, a leading manufacturer of retinal imaging devices, from 2008 to 2016 until its sale to Nikon for $400 million in 2015; and CEO of Gyrus Group PLC, a leader in minimally invasive surgery and visualization, until its acquisition by Olympus Corporation in 2008 for $1.9 billion.

“Neil has played an important role over the past 20 years in founding the company, as a dedicated member of the Inspiration team and as a member of the board of directors,” Davis said.

“I would like to thank Neil for his tireless commitment to the company and look forward to his continued involvement as a director and non-executive advisor… I look forward to working with the team to help inspire healthcare on the next stage of its journey and journey to achieve its full potential.”
