The group strives for a fair distribution of resources, meetings in Lagos

The Chairman of Eminent Persons of Ikorodu Division, RO Shoderu, has demanded equality in the distribution of resources of Lagos State in line with the IBILE system created by the state government.

Shoderu speaking at the 2024 EPID General Assembly held on Monday at the Sir Michael Onafowokan Hall at Ikorodu Town Hall, Ikorodu, said the liaison council met with members of the Governor’s Advisory Council from the branch to support the implementation of the IBILE political nomination sharing system , resources and use of infrastructure in the country.

He said: “The EPID Liaison Council met with members of the Governor’s Advisory Council from the department to support the implementation of the IBILE system of sharing political appointments, resources and infrastructure citations in the state.

“At the meeting, we were instructed to submit our program directly to the governor. It ended with a planned courtesy visit to the governor. The liaison council noted the deteriorating infrastructure and slow pace of rehabilitation of some roads in the district, including Igbogbo-Baiyeku, Igbogbo-Ginti-Ijede and Agric-Isawo roads.

“In this regard, letters have been written to the Governor with copies copied to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and the Deputy Governor seeking information on the hardships that the residents of the ward are going through and urging them to expedite the contractors on the construction site. their efforts.”

Shoderu said the local government in the area had expressed concerns over the indiscriminate construction of markets and commercial complexes along the Ojota-Ketu-Mile 12 axis by the local government councils in the area, noting that this could block the Lagos-Ikorodu road in the future.

“Due to the above concerns, a letter was sent to Fr. Commissioner of Works and other relevant authorities in the state were also copied,” he added.

The chairman also informed the audience about the need for company bodies to allocate a certain part of their income to the development of host communities.

Keynote speaker, prof. Abisogun Leigh in his speech said that one year after the creation of the state and the constitution of the second executive council, the urgent task for this cabinet was to divide the state into five administrative units including Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos and Epe.

He added: “Under the rule of Col. Mobolaji Johnson’s third and fourth executive councils were created to reflect the steady increase in the complexity of the problems facing the nascent state and efforts to ensure the administrative consolidation of the state while implementing strategic plans for economic, social, human, cultural, educational and general development were formulated.

“During the first year of the state’s existence, the military governor, together with his advisors and commissioners, demonstrated the proactiveness, vision and wisdom to give issues of fairness and equity in the management of state affairs the highest priority they deserved.

“They came up with a simple but brilliant, attractive and soothing acronym called IBILE, which was created by combining the first letters of the name of each of the five parts of the state. This decision was deliberate and signified a determination to manage the five divisions in a fair and equitable manner for all concerned.”

He stated: “Let me take this opportunity of the presence of the honorable Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly to inform him and this August Assembly that the Local Content Bill will be framed on the basis of the communique made at the end of today’s general assembly to enact a law directing the bodies corporates allocate a certain percentage of their revenues to the development of host communities.

“The bill will be moved by two (2) members of the State House of Assembly from the Division to authorize the bill for Lagos State. Therefore, on behalf of EPID, I am asking for your understanding and for the speedy adoption of the bill as soon as it reaches your House.”
