MSI Z890 and B860 Motherboards for Intel Arrow Lake-S Processors Leaked via Online Database – Devices Certified Ahead of Computex 2024

The first MSI motherboard listing for the upcoming Intel Core Ultra 200-series processors has appeared on the online database Device.report. The list includes 12 new MSI motherboards for the LGA1851 socket: equipped with four mid-range B860 chipsets and eight high-end chipsets Z890. The company has also registered the B760M-A model for 12th to 14th generation Intel processors and the H610M-S mobo for business users.

The Z890 boards are expected to be shipped as follows: MPG Z890 CARBON WIFI, MPG Z890 EDGE TI WIFI, MEG Z890 UNIFY-X, MEG Z890 GODLIKE, MEG Z890 ACE, MAG Z890 TOMAHAWK WIFI, MPG Z890I EDGE TI WIFI AND PRO Z890- Wi- Fi. The following mid-range B860 boards are also on the list: MPG B860M EDGE TI WIFI, MAG B860 TOMAHAWK WIFI, MAG B860M MORTAR WIFI, and MPG B860I EDGE WIFI.

Intel Arrow Lake chips are expected to arrive in the second half of 2024, and it looks like MSI is preparing for the imminent arrival of Intel’s first desktop gaming processors equipped with NPUs for AI processing. MSI’s upcoming motherboards are among the first leaks to show the Z890 and B860 chipsets in the context of consumer products.

Gigabyte too teased the next-gen motherboard for the X platform which is expected to appear at Computex 2024. This Aorus-branded motherboard silhouette is widely expected to feature the Z890 chipset and AI branding.

While MSI’s new motherboards don’t have AI tags in their database, the boards are allowed to tout their AI capabilities on product packaging and promotional materials. This is worth highlighting given that Microsoft and Qualcomm will soon release Snapdragon X-based laptops that offer more processing power and AI processing performance than their x86 counterparts.

Moreover, Microsoft is bringing the AI Copilot+ feature to Windows 11, adding support for a dedicated Copilot key on the keyboard. So if Intel wants its Arrow Lake chips to compete with Qualcomm’s offerings, it needs to make sure its chipsets for Intel Core Ultra 200 processors get the most out of them.

There is no Snapdragon X chip for desktop computers yet, except for the Snapdragon X Elite development kit. However, if the new Arm chips perform as expected, people may be tempted to put them in desktop computers. This would give many users the advantage of a smaller, lighter mini-PC, but still have the power of a full-featured tower PC – a development that will threaten Intel’s dominance in the desktop space.

We’re excited about what MSI, Gigabyte and other board manufacturers have in store for the LGA1851 socket. While we don’t have any specs yet, we hope to learn more about these new mobos over the next few days at Computex 2024.
