Klépierre finalizes the acquisition of the RomaEst shopping center

The French investment fund Klépierre has secured the acquisition of the Italian RomaEst shopping center.

With an annual number of visitors of 10 million, it is the sixth most visited shopping center in Italy and strategically located in the catchment area of 2.2 million consumers.

The 97,000 m² shopping center is one of Italy’s leading retail and entertainment destinations, home to 214 national and international retail brands, including JD Sports, H&M, Inditex, Mango, Primark and Sephora.

The acquisition is Klépierre’s second external growth transaction in 2024 and is part of the group’s strategy to strengthen its portfolio while generating additional net cash flow.

Following the transaction, the S&P (Standard and Poors) capital market company raised Klépierre’s outlook from stable to positive and revised its assessment of Klépierre’s liquidity profile from medium to strong.

Fitch Ratings also affirmed its A rating on Klépierre’s senior unsecured debt with a stable outlook, highlighting rent increases, stable occupancy and geographic diversification.

Klépierre is the second largest listed shopping center operator in Europe. As of December 2023, the company’s portfolio is valued at EUR 19.3 billion and includes over 10 companies in continental Europe.

The company’s investment in RomaEst reflects the strong position of the Italian retail market, which is estimated to grow at a rate of over 2% annually until 2027.
