Apple today released a new firmware update for Lightning and USB-C versions of AirPods Pro 2. The new software is version 6F7, up from version 6B34 released in November.

Apple doesn’t provide details on what features might be included in the refreshed software beyond “bug fixes and other improvements,” so it’s unclear what’s new in the update.

Apple doesn’t provide instructions to customers on how to update the AirPods firmware, but the firmware is typically installed wirelessly when the “AirPods” are connected to an iOS device. Putting the AirPods in the case, connecting the AirPods to a power source, and then pairing the AirPods to your iOS or Mac device should force the update.

You can check the firmware of your AirPods by following these steps:

  • Connect AirPods Pro to your iOS device.
  • Open the Settings app.
  • Click General.
  • Click Information.
  • Click “AirPods”.
  • Look at the number next to “Firmware Version.”

If we learn more about what’s new in the firmware version, we will update this article.
