HEALTH CENTER BOARD: Administrator reminds about upcoming town hall on food regulations

The Dent County Health Center Board of Trustees met May 16 for its monthly meeting. Bob Parsons, Bob Gravely and Carol Lacy were in attendance. Roma Jones and Zach Moser were in attendance as staff members. Board members Dennis Floyd and Lori Hasten were absent.

Moser presented his administrator’s report, which included a reminder that there will be a food regulation ordinance meeting at City Hall on May 30 at 7 p.m. Letters and invoices for the first food inspection fee have been sent by post. The regulations and fees come into force on July 1.

• May 20 is Hepatitis C/STI testing day throughout the day.

• 64 participants took part in the health fair. In total, five training sessions were held, during which employees were distributed throughout the country, free of charge for DCHC. Two vaccination clinics were also held in April.

• Building maintenance work included replacing a toilet, completing the installation of a larger generator and awaiting an insurance claim related to the April 18 hail storm that damaged an exterior electronic sign and possible parts of the building.

• progress in the implementation of the Strategic Plan was discussed.

DCHC’s April financial statements were reviewed, including a review of the H&R block.

Current assets as of April 30 were $1,141,065.92. Total assets were $1,814,649.38, total liabilities were $175,406.62, and total equity was $1,639,242.76. Revenues for March were $153,340.10, expenses were $119,243.51 and net operating income was $34,096.59. After taking into account other income and expenses, net income was $33,169.69.

H&R Block’s financial statements and report have been approved.

The draft Financial Audit was presented. The board asked for time to review the audit before giving approval. The interim report was an unmodified opinion containing no material weaknesses or findings

Moser briefed the board on a list of changes that could be made to the building, as well as potential long-term facility planning, including the possibility of bringing complementary partners to campus. Moser has not suggested any specific action at this time.

He seriously asked about the opioid settlement money for Dent County. Moser confirmed that Dent County, through the commissioners, received the money but did not spend it. They will use the MRPC to assess the use of money.

Jones presented an environmental report covering a total of seven inspections and responses to 23 environmental questions during the month.
