The Adani Group is planning an e-commerce, payments foray

The conglomerate’s plan to enter customer-centric businesses is part of its efforts to acquire companies such as Reliance Industries (in e-commerce) and Google (in digital payments).

The Adani Group plans to enter the e-commerce and payment services market, Financial Times reported on Tuesday, citing four people familiar with the matter.

The conglomerate is considering applying for a Unified Payment Interface (UPI) license and is also in talks with banks to launch a co-branded credit card. If successful, the Adani group will compete with Google Pay and PhonePe in the Indian digital payments space.
