Canon increases productivity and ease of use of Arizona 2300 series flatbed printers with the addition of FLXflow technology

(MENAFN-BCW Global) Drupa Media Conference, Düsseldorf, Germany, March 28, 2024 – Canon today introduces the Arizona 2300 series with FLXflow technology, which introduces new productivity-enhancing features to its flatbed printer series. Building on existing technology, the new FLXflow offers not only the original “Hold” function to help hold media on a zone-free flat table, but also new optional “Float” and “Instant Switch” functions to improve media handling. Further features such as additional quality modes, image layout control and improved workflow integration, along with an interface connecting automation systems for continuous media loading and unloading, ensure increased workflow efficiency and productivity.

Also being released is the latest release of PRISMAelevate XL 2.1, which doubles the print height on supported Arizona flatbed printers to 4mm to help users create distinctive, tactile graphics for higher-level printing applications, enhancing and expanding product offerings.

Optimized usability
Serving the medium to large format large format graphics market, the Arizona 2300 FLXflow supports a wide range of substrates and applications. This enables customers, both in-house and commercial printing service providers (PSPs), to continually adapt to changing consumer trends, such as the growing demand for personalized and bespoke applications, while ensuring that customization remains economically viable, even in case of samples and one-time orders.

Offering unique, patented functionality that allows users to not only hold, but also float media, FLXflow is equipped with three functions – Hold, Float and Instant Switch – so users can move heavier and irregular media across the table more quickly and easily. The Hold function, a feature of the original FLOW technology, holds media in place using a patented airflow technique. By automatically measuring and adjusting airflow levels to confidently and accurately hold various types of media in place, this functionality provides flexible positioning with significantly less masking and tape, enabling operators to complete tasks faster.

The new Float feature is an optional feature that pushes air up from the table to create a cushion, allowing heavy or difficult substrates such as glass or large sheets of dibond and plywood to be easily positioned, reducing the risk of media damage or waste. This also results in smoother capture of all types of media, with a “drift-free floating” feature allowing multiple media to be precisely positioned at the same time. The instant switch feature allows the operator to easily switch from pause to float mode using foot pedals, making the printer easier to operate, making it easier to remove media from the bed and reducing the risk of damage.

Raised and textured print for endless creativity
The latest version 2.1 of PRISMAelevate XL doubles the print height to 4mm to help users create distinctive, tactile graphics for advanced printing applications that enhance and expand product offerings. It enables users to explore new applications such as high-quality, textured, durable signage, product decoration, awards, decorative materials and packaging prototyping, as well as applications for the visually impaired. Prints are durable, without the need for additional finishing steps such as lamination, coating or spray varnishing, which results in less waste and higher production efficiency.

Maximize your uptime
Arizona 2300 FLXflow users can also take advantage of the new Advanced Image Layout Controls, which enable last-minute changes to the printer, providing additional flexibility when positioning the substrate on the bed and reducing waste of expensive materials. Productivity is further enhanced by service support tools such as PRISMAservice, which provides predictive maintenance and facilitates authorized remote assistance from qualified service technicians to maximize uptime.

Possibility of field modernization
Customers using a current Arizona 2300 printer with FLOW can upgrade their printer to the latest version with FLXflow features, including optional Float and Instant Switch. The updates also include new features such as advanced image layout controls. They can also add PRISMA XL Suite workflow software to provide a preview feature that allows users to see what the final product will look like before printing, while allowing them to make any necessary corrections. This saves time, allows you to preview complex, multi-layered, textured jobs and provide cost estimates before printing.

Mathew Faulkner, Director of Marketing and Innovation, Large Format Printing at Canon EMEA says: “At Canon we are focused on the continuous development of our flatbed technology, working closely with the market and our customers to develop our products from printer to software , which supports them. With this in mind, we designed our Arizona 2300 FLXflow to be versatile and deliver high-quality applications with greater performance and productivity, while our service support tools, such as PRISMAservice, help maintain the highest uptime for our customers at maximum efficiency. And with the new features of our FLXflow technology with the added “Float” feature, it makes life much easier for operators when handling irregular or heavy substrates, opening up opportunities to create a wider range of high-value applications.

“Combined with our latest version of PRISMAelevate XL, capable of printing at a height of 4 mm, the possibilities have opened up even further. Customers continually surprise us with the creative apps they create, and we can’t wait to see what they create with these new features.

Designed with the environment in mind
With less waste and lower energy consumption than its predecessors, the Arizona 2300 FLXflow is designed to be more sustainable. FLXflow technology requires less masking and backing to hold media in place, resulting in less waste. The series also uses at least 15% less energy than its UV halide predecessors and offers energy-saving features such as right-first-time printing and instant-on. The company’s inks are GREENGUARD Gold certified, which guarantees the safety of prints in sensitive environments such as hospitals, schools and other public places.

The Arizona 2300 with FLXflow is modular and expandable in the field with roll media options and FLXflow technology. The modular design is in line with other recent innovations in Canon’s flatbed and roll-to-roll products, such as the Colorado M Series, and increases device durability and provides a smarter, more sustainable way to invest in technology as your business grows, rather than into a new device.

Customers can also take advantage of Canon’s refurbishment program, where they can trade in their favorite used Arizona printers when purchasing a replacement. These older systems are inspected, serviced and prepared for sale as refurbished printers, further extending the life of your Arizona printer.
The Arizona 2300 FLXflow will be available from June 2024 and will make its live debut at ISA in Orlando (FL), USA on April 10-12, 2024. In its first public demonstration in Europe, the Arizona 2300 FLXflow will produce live at drupa 2024 at the Canon stand in Hall 8a, stands B41-1 to B41-8. PRISMAelevate XL 2.1 will be available from April 10 through Canon accredited partners and direct sales organizations.
