Reliance’s JioMart enters high-speed trading; launch of 30-minute delivery from June, ET Retail

Rely on JioMart

New Delhi: Intensifying competition in the 10-minute delivery space, Isha Ambani-led Reliance Retail is in the advanced stages of launching fast commerce services, say people aware of the development.

The fast trading service will be launched under JioMart. Currently, JioMart delivers in two formats – Next Day Delivery and Slot Delivery. According to the people quoted above, the company plans to launch a 30-minute delivery service from June.

JioMart plans to initially launch the service in 8 cities and gradually expand it to 1,000 cities. In terms of categories, the company is starting with grocery delivery and intends to gradually expand its offer to include additional categories.

An inquiry sent to Reliance Retail remained unanswered.

Unlike existing fast trading players, JioMart has no plans to open dark stores. The company will leverage its existing ecosystem of approximately 19,000 stores and fulfillment centers to offer a fast delivery service.

The model is in the testing phase and based on the response, JioMart will plan to reduce delivery time, sources said.

Fast trading players Zepto, Blinkit and Swiggy Instamart currently offer delivery in less than 10-15 minutes.

The fast trading model is gaining a lot of attention due to its growing adoption. ET had earlier reported that Flipkart is also getting into high-speed trading. The e-commerce giant was also reportedly in talks for a potential deal with Zepto, but those discussions ended in failure.
