Opinion | The FTC’s lawsuit against the Tapestry-Capri deal is absurd

Occam’s Razor, or the principle of parsimony, states that when trying to solve a puzzle, try the simplest explanation first. So: Maybe the Biden administration, with its pronominal “police” and “it’s-for-your-good-that-we-come-for-your-stoves” irritation, is full of Republican moles looking to ridicule progressivism.

How else to explain the Federal Trade Commission’s antitrust sleuths mounting their high horses and galloping to save wealthy consumers from the threat to “affordable luxury” or “accessible luxury” in the high-end women’s handbag market? However, these phrases are semi-oxymorons. And what might “monopoly” mean in the case of completely discretionary purchases?
