Progress sets the standard for application development with generative AI integration, enhanced design system capabilities, and accessible data visualization

Latest Q2 2024 release enables developers to integrate generative AI into any application and rapidly create and design innovative, inclusive digital experiences.

Progress (Nasdaq: PRGS), a trusted provider of infrastructure software, today announced the R2 2024 release of Progress® Telerik® and Progress® Kendo UI®, the most powerful .NET and JavaScript UI libraries and tools for application development. Today’s release brings artificial intelligence (AI) suggestions to application interfaces, design-to-code productivity, accessibility features, and a range of new UI components, including the first-to-market Blazor Spreadsheet component.

“Companies are rapidly adapting their products to take advantage of artificial intelligence, and developers must respond quickly to this new opportunity,” said Loren Jarrett, vice president and general manager of digital solutions at Progress. “With this latest release, we’re making it easier for developers to incorporate Gen AI tips into their apps and embed AI for better UX, as well as advanced design, code automation, and accessibility features. The world is changing rapidly and we are enabling developers to stay ahead of the competition.”

What’s new in Q2 2024:

User interface components for generative artificial intelligence integration

The new AI Prompt component, available in all Telerik and Kendo UI libraries, allows you to create high-quality content, messages and documents, and quickly access information through UI searches. To reduce learning curves, AI integration demonstrations in the Telerik and Kendo UI libraries for components like TextBox and Spreadsheet help developers discover new ways to incorporate AI-powered interactions into their digital experiences.

Accelerated workflows from design to production

While design systems are essential to ensuring design consistency, translating design into code often causes problems and delays during production. With today’s release, Progress is improving communication between designers and developers with improved Figma UI kits, enhanced color system themes, and enriched design system documentation. Developers can further ensure brand consistency and meet application standardization requirements with the newly introduced unified rendering across JavaScript and .NET web frameworks. They can take advantage of over 600 component-specific theme variables and the intelligent CSS code editor in the Progress® ThemeBuilder℠ cloud app.

Accessibility and inclusivity taken to the next level

A recent global study commissioned by Progress shows that 76% of developers consider building human-centric applications – with accessibility at the heart – more important than they did two years ago. To help them expand their efforts and meet specific user needs, Telerik and Kendo UI libraries are Section 508, WCAG 2.2, and WAI Aria compliant. Additionally, all web chart components provide built-in accessibility and keyboard navigation, making data visualizations accessible to everyone.

Progress also introduced new built-in data-driven capabilities with reporting and visualization capabilities, legacy project modernization with support for complex migration scenarios, and support for .NET 9 Preview.
