Integration of Snom phones with the Microsoft Teams SIP gateway

With an update to the telecommunications platform, Snom phones were recently added to the list of third-party devices supported by MS Teams via SIP gateway. Snom explains what this means for businesses using Teams.

The integration of SIP-based phones with Microsoft Teams via SIP gateway has reached a new milestone. Snom D717 and D735 phones can now be used seamlessly with MS Teams via the Microsoft SIP Gateway. These models were not chosen for integration with Teams by accident. These end devices are extremely popular in the market due to their excellent price-performance ratio. Both end devices offer not only high sound quality, but also unrivaled stability and versatility.

Of course, the integration of Snom and MS Teams endpoints brings benefits to the end user. Businesses that already use Snom phones can now switch from a conventional IP PBX to Microsoft Unified Communication without having to change their existing equipment. This protects and maximizes investment in existing devices and facilitates migration to MS Teams.

Conversely, companies that already use MS Teams also benefit from Snom device integration. Extending the platform with Snom phones improves user comfort and significantly simplifies corporate communication.

The addition of Snom phones to the list of Teams SIP Gateway compatible devices also creates new opportunities for businesses to improve communications and increase productivity. By integrating phones and collaboration tools, companies can optimize the way they work and focus on what really matters: business success.

Use Teams on Snom phones

The integration allows end users to use various Teams features directly from their Snom phones. This, of course, includes making and receiving calls (several at the same time if necessary), participating in Teams meetings by logging in with your phone number, as well as placing or unpausing a call, transferring a call, or unmute or unmute your microphone. Voicemail can be accessed directly via supported Snom endpoint devices, which can be integrated into the Teams call queue as agents.

Additionally, users can log in and out of Teams via SIP devices and use DTMF (“dual-tone multi-frequency”) tones. Even the Do Not Disturb (DND) mode set on SIP devices is taken over by Teams. MS Teams users also benefit from all the typical features of Snom devices to increase call security.

Supported Snom phones are configured manually or via the “Snom Provisioning and Redirection Server” (SRAPS). Using SRAPS makes sharing much easier by automatically connecting to the Microsoft Teams sharing server. This enables quick configuration and reduces administrative overhead.
