GENTARI-LAZADA COOPERATION IS AN EXAMPLE OF E-COMMERCE GROWTH AND SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORT SOLUTIONS IN THE COUNTRY – TENGKU ZAFRUL

KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 (Bernama) — Clean energy solutions provider Gentari Sdn Bhd, through its subsidiary Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd, is partnering with e-commerce company Lazada to pilot the electrification of its logistics operations by introducing 25 electric bicycles last mile delivery for its customers.

This followed the unveiling of Gentari’s long-term electric vehicle (EV) leasing solution for commercial fleets.

Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said the joint efforts of Gentari and Lazada exemplify the powerful synergy between the country’s growing e-commerce sector and sustainable transportation solutions.

“This alliance not only sets a benchmark for industries “converging” and collaborating to accelerate decarbonization efforts, but also catalyzes significant innovation in last-mile supply solutions.

“By leveraging Lazada’s broad reach combined with Gentari’s clean energy expertise, we are at the forefront of a scalable transformation in green logistics,” he said at the launch of the Gentari Green Mobility initiative today.

He said MITI is pleased that companies like Gentari and Lazada are actively contributing to achieving the common national goal of Net Zero, set out in policies such as the Low Carbon Mobility Plan, National Energy Policy, New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) and the National Energy Transition Action Plan (NETR).

“We know that the use of electric vehicles will only increase with a supportive ecosystem.

“Therefore, improving e-bike charging infrastructure and establishing comprehensive battery charging standards at both public and home charging stations is crucial to achieving a critical mass of electric vehicle uptake in Malaysia,” he added.

Meanwhile, Gentari Deputy CEO and General Manager of Gentari Green Mobility Shah Yang Razalli said that the VaaS leasing solution is an example of innovation and underlines their commitment to expanding access to green mobility across various sectors, including the gig economy and enterprises that have recently been relying on based on two-wheeled transport. -delivery miles.

“This collaboration advances our green mobility initiatives and demonstrates the significant environmental benefits of integrating electric vehicles into commercial fleets,” he said.

Shah Yang said that promoting electric vehicles (especially electric two-wheelers, or E2W) and developing charging infrastructure are essential steps towards a sustainable future.

He added that Gentari is leading this transformation with Malaysia’s largest network of licensed electric vehicle charging stations.

“Our extensive network includes over 400 Gentari EV charging points, including 120 DC fast chargers.

“With chargers distributed across 105 locations, we provide reliable and efficient charging solutions that ensure seamless integration of electric vehicles into everyday operations for both businesses and individuals,” he said.
