Pakistan ready to cooperate with regional countries in economic, trade sectors: Aleem

ISLAMABAD, May 29 (APP): Federal Minister of Communication, Investment Board and Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan, who is on a visit to Tajikistan, met Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda in Dushanbe and discussed with him bilateral relations and important issues.

Welcoming the federal minister, Tajikistan Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda reiterated that Tajikistan’s doors will always be open for bilateral cooperation for Pakistan, a press release issued here on Wednesday said.

Aleem Khan thanked the Prime Minister of Tajikistan and said that the two countries are historically bound by religious and cultural ties, and in the future these relations can be further strengthened by promoting trade activities.

Earlier, speaking at the International Conference in Dushanbe, the Federal Minister said that Pakistan is ready to cooperate in all kinds of economic and business activities in the region, under which practical work is being carried out to adapt trade corridors to global standards and connect them with other countries of the State.

He said Pakistan was working to digitize the “Silk Road Corridor”, especially for Central Asian countries, while ensuring the implementation of the “right to monitor” through satellite technology on roads under construction.

Aleem Khan further said that today is the era of import and export, the guarantee of development is international trade for which standard and spacious roads will be built and for Central Asian countries like Karachi and Port Qasim, Gwadar Port will also be available.

Offering all kinds of support from Pakistan to the Central Asian countries, he said that through this international conference, new avenues of development and prosperity will open up between different countries.

On this occasion, the federal minister held separate meetings with the ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan and Tajikistan in Dushanbe, during which it was agreed to promote business-to-business and government-to-government activities between Pakistan and the Central Asian State.

Similarly, construction of trade corridors from Pakistan to these countries through China, Afghanistan and alternative routes was also considered.

Minister of Material Resources of Tajikistan Ahmedzada Noor Mahmad also visited Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan during which the export of various food items including sugar, potatoes, textiles and livestock from Pakistan was discussed.

Aleem Khan expressed his gratitude to the Ministers, describing the course of this Conference as very fruitful, and gifts were also exchanged among themselves on the occasion.
