Insightful offers a range of useful employee monitoring features to ensure optimal workforce productivity on projects. These include time and project tracking tools; screen, website and app monitoring and productivity alerts.

Time and project tracking

Insightful offers several tools for tracking employee time. Contain:

  • Tools for tracking active and idle time, allowing you to assess when employees are actually working
  • A tool to track the duration of online meetings
  • A schedule of activities that shows what employees have been working on during a specific period of time
  • Time spent on project and task tracking tools

Overall, depending on the plan you choose, companies can automatically track employee time according to time spent on specific tools, tasks, and projects. Enterprise plan users can additionally track remote team productivity, for example by assessing the impact of work location on productivity and remote work time and attendance.

In our tests, we found turning it on and off intuitive. After installing the app, we simply clicked the “clock” button and the software automatically started tracking our time with a stopwatch. We then clicked “logged out” when our work period was over and a log of our logged time automatically appeared.

Invoicing and budgeting

Insightful has just rolled out invoicing and budgeting features. These reports allow you to track the total and individual income of employees across projects.

In these reports, you have access to insight into the rates at which project participants are paid and the total costs of the project. You can further click on a specific employee’s name to access a report that provides detailed information on their project income and productivity levels over the course of the project. Finally, you can export such reports for payroll purposes.

Screen monitoring

Insightful allows employers to simultaneously take screenshots of multiple employee screens as they work. You can set the software to take screenshots at a specific frequency throughout the day for all employees, or set up custom screenshot rules for individual employees. The process is as simple as selecting from a variety of options how often to download software to the computers used by employees.

You can then filter screenshots by employee, team, project, task, type, or productivity label.

Monitoring the use of the application and website

Insightful helps companies understand how their employees spend their time by revealing the websites and apps they use during work hours. Companies can also choose the apps and websites they want to monitor to ensure privacy is never compromised, even for remote teams.

Remote workers can also log in and out of Insightful on their personal computers to enable activity tracking only while they are working. Once logged in, the system analyzes your online activity to determine idle time, productive time, unproductive time, break time, and even location. Location data can be used comparatively to determine the work locations where employees are most productive.

Our testing has shown that users can easily generate reports with the online activity data they need by clicking the report icon in the “employees” section of the dashboard and viewing their preferred reporting metrics. This makes generating such reports intuitive and can be performed on demand and immediately.

Productivity alerts

Insightful offers companies a variety of alerts to ensure workforce productivity, help companies avoid unwanted activity during work hours, and ensure employee needs are met. For example, an idle time alert lets companies know when employees are idle, based on thresholds you set. Another alert notifies the company when employees access prohibited websites during work hours, such as websites that hinder productivity.
