Yomiuri Group will retain 3 top management members while holding board and shareholder meetings

Yomiuri Shimbun Holdings, The Yomiuri Shimbun, Yomiuri Giants, Chuokoron-Shinsha, Inc. and Yomiuri Land, Co. held meetings of their management boards on Tuesday, during which they approved the preliminary draft financial results for the 2023 financial year and decided on nominations for management positions, among other things.

The decisions will be finalized during the general shareholder meetings and subsequent board meetings scheduled for June 11.

Yomiuri Shimbun Holdings will retain its three most important representative directors: editor-in-chief Tsuneo Watanabe, chairman of the board Shoichi Oikawa and president Toshikazu Yamaguchi.

Takayuki Tanaka, senior managing director and chief administrative officer, who is also responsible for group businesses at The Yomiuri Shimbun, will serve as director in charge of Osaka operations at The Yomiuri Shimbun Holdings.

Masaki Masuda, senior managing director and chief production officer, who is also responsible for technology at The Yomiuri Shimbun, will serve as director in charge of Seibu operations at The Yomiuri Shimbun Holdings.

Yomiuri Shimbun Osaka will hold a board meeting on Thursday and Yomiuri Shimbun Seibu on Friday.

At these meetings, each of them will approve the draft earnings results. The Yomiuri Shimbun Osaka will decide that Tanaka will serve as its representative director and president, and the Yomiuri Shimbun Seibu will decide that Masuda will serve as its representative director and president.

At The Yomiuri Shimbun, Riichiro Maeki, senior managing director and editor-in-chief, will assume the position of senior managing director in charge of editorial.

Kazuyuki Fujita, director and head of the Office of the President and responsible for compliance and corporate communications at The Yomiuri Shimbun Holdings, will be appointed as director and general manager for administration, also responsible for the group’s businesses and the Tsukiji project.

Koji Tanaka, who is the director of Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Holdings, Inc., will take up the position of director responsible for real estate management on June 21.

In Yomiuri Giants, Toru Kunimatsu, representative director and president of The Yomiuri Shimbun Seibu, will be appointed representative director and president.

At Chuokoron-Shinsha, Junichi Abe will be reappointed as representative director and president.

In Yomiuri Land, Takeshi Mizoguchi will be reappointed as representative director and president.

Yomiuri Land starts his own company

Yomiuri Land decided to establish its own company on July 1 to work on the Tokyo Giants Town project, which it is developing together with The Yomiuri Shimbun and Yomiuri Giants.

At Tuesday’s meeting of the management board, a decision was made to approve the draft financial results.

Tokyo Giants Town Management Company will handle preparations for the opening of the stadium, aquarium and shopping facilities, and will manage the city once it opens. The planned company aims to create a lively atmosphere in the area by combining sports and entertainment attractions.

Seiji Hasegawa, who will take over as director of Yomiuri Land on June 11, is to be appointed the new president of the company.
