How to remotely uninstall apps from your Android device

Want to remotely uninstall an Android app on your phone or tablet? Google now offers this option: here’s how to do it.

Google has always allowed users to remotely install apps on Android devices. This means you can log into the Play Store on your Windows PC and install the app on your phone. However, it is now introducing a new feature that allows you to remotely uninstall apps from Android devices where you are logged in.

The ability to remotely uninstall apps is great for those who use multiple devices such as phones, tablets, e-book readers, and more.

While this feature was first spotted in 2023, it is now rolling out to more users. To use this feature, you must be logged in with the same email ID on both devices.

How to remotely uninstall Android apps

Remove apps remotely
  • Open the Play Store on your Android phone.
  • Tap your profile icon in the upper right corner of the screen.
  • Tap on “Manage Apps & Device.”
  • Click “Manage” on the next screen.
  • Select the app you want to remove from the list.
  • Tap on “This Device” to view the list of devices.
  • Select the device you want to remove the app from.
  • Tap the Trash icon at the top to delete the app.
  • Confirm deletion.
  • The application will be deleted from the target device.

This feature can be extremely helpful for people using Google TV. Selecting apps using your phone is much easier than navigating the TV menu using the remote control.

Please note that this feature does not work when you try to remotely remove apps using your computer’s browser. Additionally, since this feature is being rolled out in phases, you may have to wait until it becomes available on your device or in your region.
