MYTILINEOS signs two Irish PV contracts

Keppel DC REIT and MYTILINEOS Energy & Metals have signed two long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) to supply energy generated from two solar farms in Ireland to two Keppel DC REIT facilities in Dublin.

The solar farms, strategically located at Gorey in Wexford, an area with one of the highest radiation regions in Ireland, and Goresbridge in Kilkenny, have a combined capacity of 14.28 megawatts (MW) and, when completed, will produce approx.

13.6 GWh of renewable electricity per year, displacing over 6,250 tonnes per year of carbon dioxide (CO2).

“As an established provider of colocation data centers in Ireland, Keppel DC REIT is committed to achieving net zero across its operations in Ireland by 2030, in line with the Irish Climate Action Plan and its commitment under the Climate Neutral Data Centers Pact. We believe that by strengthening our commitment to combating climate change, we can better support our clients’ sustainability goals,” said Gary Watson, national director of Keppel DC REIT.

Including these latest PPAs, approximately 92% of the total energy demand at Keppel DC REIT’s two data centers will be met by Irish renewables.

Through the PPAs, MYTILINEOS will supply approximately 11% of the total energy requirements of Dublin’s data centers once the solar farms are completed in summer 2024. Both solar farms have been built by M Renewables by MYTILINEOS, a leading global integrated developer with a significant track record of successful projects. M Renewables undertook the design, procurement and construction (EPC) of the solar parks.

“The signing of MYTILINEOS’ first PPA in Ireland strengthens the company’s presence in the local renewable energy market and creates significant growth opportunities. We are proud to collaborate with Keppel, an international provider of reliable data centers in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, confirming the huge demand for green solutions in the demanding energy market,” said Nikos Papapetrou, Executive Director of M Renewables MYTILINEOS.

MYTILINEOS was founded and has been operating in Europe and the UK for 10 years, and Ireland is an important strategic country for the Company in its solar, storage and hydrogen businesses. The total capacity of the operational and mature global M Renewables portfolio, which is dynamically expanding on all five continents, is currently approximately 4.8 GW, including projects in the early and mid-stage of development, with a capacity of approximately 5.7 GW, MYTILINEOS Global Energy Portfolio is currently around 10 GW.
