The Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry is working on a Subsidy Plan for hybrid energy storage systems in connection with Renewable Energy Sources (RES) projects. This initiative, part of the Just Transition Fund, follows the results of a previous public consultation on the overall policy framework for energy storage.

To refine and improve the plan, the Ministry is conducting open consultations with interested parties. The primary objectives are to collect recommendations based on the plan to support the promotion of renewable energy in combination with storage systems and to record suggestions for storage systems not covered by the current technical guide.

The Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry also announces that the Open Consultation, which was originally scheduled to end on May 30, 2024, has been extended until June 14, 2024. This extension provides interested parties with additional time to submit their observations and recommendations.

Interested parties are invited to submit comments by the new deadline. The Ministry may also organize an online presentation to develop the Grant Plan at a later date.

For more information or to submit comments, interested parties may contact us via email. Relevant documents are available on the website of the Single Service for Renewable Energy Sources and on the e-consultation portal.

This consultation is a significant step towards improving energy storage solutions, which are key to integrating renewable energy and ensuring a sustainable energy future for Cyprus.
