Edison Energia has launched a 10 MW photovoltaic (PV) plant that will supply renewable energy to the SIAD group company, Industria Gas Tecnici (IGAT), under a power purchase agreement (PPA).

The 10-year contract covers the production and offtake of all green electricity produced by the plant in the province of Alessandria to cover part of the energy needs of the IGAT power plant in Pignataro Maggiore, in the province of Caserta. The photovoltaic power plant will produce an annual average of approximately 14,000 MWh.

Bernardo Sestini, president and CEO of the SIAD Group, said that this agreement confirms SIAD’s mission to ensure responsible and sustainable development of the entire group.

He said: “This is another step forward in maintaining and consolidating our goals of purchasing certified renewable electricity. We strongly believe in the importance of this path, which reflects the fundamental value of sustainability in the daily guidance of all our activities.”

Massimo Iorio, general director of IGAT, said that electricity is IGAT’s basic resource, and the possibility of signing an agreement with Edison Energia for the supply of green energy from photovoltaic systems has been waiting for four years.

He said: “This landmark… represents the first step towards an even broader project, always aimed at protecting and preserving the environment, and allows us to consolidate our successful 10-year partnership with a reliable and professional partner like Edison.”

“For companies like IGAT, clean energy can bring double benefits, both economically and in terms of sustainability, so we are confident that in the near future we will be able to implement further projects that we intend to implement in order to achieve tangible results aimed at aimed at increasingly decisive environmental protection.”

Edison Energia ensures long-term supplies and supports industries in the process of electrification of consumption through long-term Corporate PPAs with power plants using renewable sources.

The agreement provides for the construction and operational management of the power plant by Edison Energia and the collection by IGAT of all renewable energy produced.

Massimo Quaglini, CEO of Edison Energia, said the agreement represents a new milestone for Edison Energia, which aims to support customers in the decarbonization process. He said: “The agreement results from the experience gained over the years by Edison Energia as a leading national operator cooperating with industrial companies.”

Earlier this month, SIAD Group launched an oil-free, 550-bar high-pressure hydrogen compressor for hydrogen mobility that will be suitable for heavy-duty vehicle refueling stations.
