Aggreko increases investment in batteries to USD 200 million

The company will invest a significant part of this amount in the development of its European BESS fleet. The introduction of a larger European fleet of small, medium and large BESS vehicles is part of Aggreko’s Greener Upgrades initiative, which aims to support customers in making the transition to greener solutions.

By bringing these new, greener technologies to market, Aggreko is strengthening its commitment to play a key role in the energy transition, which is a key part of the new global sustainability framework, Energizing Change™.

By conducting field trials with customers, Aggreko helps companies adopt new technologies such as batteries early, supporting the transition towards cleaner and greener energy solutions.

Whether using battery in a hybrid system or standalone, the improved BESS fleet will help reduce emissions, NOx emissions and fuel efficiency across a wide range of applications. Additionally, the introduction of BESS solutions can help address capacity constraints and provide off-grid power resiliency as part of a decentralized energy solution, especially for high-energy users.

Rodrigo Salim, Product Line Head – Batteries and Energy Storage at Aggreko, said: “Many industries are transitioning to renewable energy and in this respect, intermittency and the skills gap need to be balanced. By consulting closely with customers and delivering greener solutions like BESS in rentals, we can help unlock opportunities for our customers to scale up their own decarbonization efforts.”
