Shell and Exxon sell North Sea assets to Viaro Energy

Offshore workers

ABERDEEN, UK — Shell and Exxon Mobil are reportedly close to an agreement to sell the Clipper and Leman Alpha gas field clusters in the UK’s southern North Sea for approximately $500 million to Viaro Energy.

If confirmed, it would mean Exxon Mobil’s departure from its exploration and production business in the British North Sea region.

Viaro already has interests in a number of producing fields in the southern gas basin, both in UK and Dutch waters.
