Surface Go 3 receives new firmware with Device Manager patches and security patches

Microsoft’s entry-level tablet, Surface Go 3, has received a new firmware update. The May 2024 release aims to resolve the unknown devices bug in Device Manager and patch several security vulnerabilities. The update patches INTEL-SA-00950, a processor vulnerability that allows for potential privilege escalation or denial of service (physical access to the target device is required to exploit the vulnerability).

What’s new in the Surface Go 3 May 2024 firmware update?

The following update is available for Surface Go 3 devices running Windows 10 October 2022 Update, version 22H2 or later.

  • Addresses a potential vulnerability related to Intel® Security Advisory INTEL-TA-00950.

  • Fixes a pre-boot protection (PXE) vulnerability.

  • Addresses an issue in which Device Manager in Windows displays an unidentified or disconnected device.

  • Addresses an issue that prevented DFCI from being removed over the network.
