GCO and YouTube are collaborating on capacity-building initiatives for the Qatari government and media sectors

Doha, May 30 (QNA) – The Government Communications Office (GCO) and YouTube today organized workshops for government and media representatives across Qatar as part of a series of capacity-building initiatives aimed at upskilling Qatar’s media, digital and content creation sectors.

During the workshops, participants were trained in best practices for creating effective, creative content on YouTube.

The event highlights Qatar’s commitment to developing a robust digital ecosystem and supporting innovation in line with the Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030. There were tailored sessions for government bodies in the morning and for media organizations in the afternoon.

Speaking about the workshop, GCO Director, HE Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al Thani said: “Qatar is an attractive hub that supports innovation and cutting-edge technologies across various sectors and as part of its commitment to the country’s digital transformation, GCO is collaborating with major digital platforms to develop our digital ecosystem and increase opportunities in this ever-evolving field.

His Excellency added: “Digital platforms like YouTube offer powerful tools to share our story with the world, and these workshops represent a vital step in upskilling talent in our government and media sectors. Through this initiative, we can enable our teams to engage audiences through compelling video content highlighting Qatar’s innovative spirit and development achievements. By leveraging YouTube’s expertise, we are investing in a future in which our country’s digital presence is as innovative as the development initiatives transforming our society.”

For his part, Google’s managing director for the MENA region, Anthony Nakache, said: “Google is committed to supporting the development of Qatar’s media and creative economy by building the capacity of existing and new media companies, newsrooms and content creators. We are pleased with our cooperation in Qatar and I look forward to doing more.”

The workshop was attended by 12 governmental and 23 semi-governmental entities, as well as 10 of Qatar’s most important media organizations.

With this collaboration, GCO and Google are taking a significant step towards cultivating a thriving digital landscape in Qatar by enabling stakeholders to strategically and creatively leverage digital platforms.
