Stock Market Sectors: Stock Market Update: Sugar Stocks Fall as Market Falls

NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed lower in Thursday’s session.

The top gainers were Simbhaoli Sugars Ltd. (up 3.80%) and KCP Sugar & Industries Corporation Ltd. (up 0.86%).

DCM Shriram Industries Ltd. (down 3.19%), Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd. (down 2.77%), Magadh Sugar & Energy Ltd. (down 2.66%), Ugar Sugar Works Ltd. ( down 2.57%), Shree Renuka Sugars Ltd. .(down 2.54%), Avadh Sugar & Energy Ltd. (down 2.37%), Uttam Sugar Mills Ltd. (down 2.31% ), Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries Ltd. (down 2.20%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals Ltd. (the biggest losers of the day included Vishwaraj Sugar Industries Ltd. (down 1.95%).

The NSE Nifty50 index ended the session down 216.05 points at 22,488.65, while the 30-share BSE Sensex ended down 617.3 points at 73,885.6.

ICICI Bank Ltd. (up 1.07%), Axis Bank Ltd. (up 0.71%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (up 0.44%), State Bank of India (up 0.39%) ), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (up 0.14%) and Bharti Airtel Ltd. (up 0.01%) were among the top gainers on the Nifty. In turn, Tata Steel Ltd. (down 5.8%), Tech Mahindra Ltd. (down 3.55%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (down 3.47%), Titan Company Ltd. (down by 3.22%), Wipro Ltd. (down by 3.08%), Shriram Finance Ltd. (down by 3.03%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (down by 2.92%), Nestle India Ltd. (down 2.89%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (down 2.8%) and Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd. (down 2.33%) ended the session in the red.
