New Delhi

Calling the Agnibaan rocket mission led by IIT Madras startup Agnikul a remarkable feat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said it was a “momentous occasion for the Indian space sector”.

Powered by liquid oxygen/kerosene, Agnibaan is a two-stage rocket that can lift up to 300 kg to an altitude of 700 km.

“An extraordinary feat that will make the entire nation proud!” Prime Minister Modi said in a post on social media platform X.com.

“The successful launch of the Agnibaan rocket powered by the world’s first single-piece, 3D-printed semi-cryogenic engine is a momentous occasion for the Indian space sector.”

The launch is also a “testament to the extraordinary ingenuity of our Yuva Shakti,” Prime Minister Modi said.

The Prime Minister also extended his “best wishes to the Agnikul Cosmos team in their future endeavors.”

The indigenously designed and manufactured Agnibaan-SOrTeD (Suborbital Technology Demonstrator) was launched at 7.15 am today from India’s first privately developed launcher named ‘Dhanush’.

The launch pad established by Agnikula in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh is located at the ISRO missile port in Sriharikota.
