Mercury New Zealand strikes major deal on renewable energy

Mercury NZ Ltd. (MGHTF) has released an update.

Mercury NZ Limited has entered into a key long-term agreement with New Zealand Aluminum Smelters (NZAS) that promises to strengthen renewable energy investment in New Zealand. Starting in January 2025, the contract provides a stable supply of up to 75 MW until 2027, increasing market certainty for renewable projects such as the expansion of the Kaiwera Downs wind farm. The agreement is seen as a cornerstone of the country’s transition towards a renewable energy future and achieving climate change goals.
