Application of PLCnext technology in devices

Festo, leading German manufacturer of pneumatic and electrical automation technologies, announced the adoption of PLCnext Technology, the company’s open ecosystem for modern automation Contact Feniksin future smart devices. The announcement follows Festo’s search for a partner offering an open system approach that includes a suitable operating system. This new strategic technology partnership aims to combine the complementary strengths of both companies to take industrial automation to the next level.

The common goal is to meet the requirements resulting from the convergence of IT and OT (Information Technology and Operations Technology) in industry through open automation solutions. The combination of the know-how of both companies is intended to enable cooperation to solve future technological challenges, such as cybersecurity, as well as to provide innovative solutions for Industry 4.0. Festo and its customers will benefit from the ability to offer custom automation solutions that meet specific customer requirements.

PLCnext from Phoenix Contact is an automation and IoT product line that combines an open real-time control platform, a Linux development and execution environment, automation engineering software and cloud integration. The PLCnext ecosystem includes a vendor-supported online software store and a supported developer community.

The new generation of products is expected to be launched by the end of the year.
