Super Smelters Ltd. and TATA Power Renewables partners to pioneer 100% green energy for steelmaking in eastern India

Super Smelters Ltd. recently announced a strategic partnership with TATA Power Renewables to promote renewable energy in East India. By signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and commissioning 5 MW of capacity, this groundbreaking collaboration aims to achieve 100% green energy for steel production, significantly reducing CO emissions₂ emissions in the region.

This ambitious initiative will generate an extraordinary 147,014 MWh of clean energy, underlining both companies’ commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. By integrating renewable energy sources into the steelmaking process, this partnership will set a new benchmark in the industry, paving the way for a cleaner and greener future.

The switch to green energy for steel production is expected to result in significant reductions in carbon dioxide emissions, with projections showing a decline of as much as 120,110 tonnes. This initiative not only highlights companies’ commitment to fighting climate change, but also reflects their proactive approach to supporting sustainable development in East India. This move is in line with the Prime Minister’s clear call to achieve net zero by 2070.
