Zambian construction e-commerce startup Bosso raised PLN 400,000. dollars of pre-seed financing

Zambian startup Bosso, a cutting-edge construction e-commerce platform that aims to provide solutions for the African construction sector, has raised a pre-seed funding round of $400,000 to further develop its platform and add new features.

Founded in 2022 by Chisepo Chirwa, Mukopaje Singogo, Ibn Kafwanka and Salwa Shamapande, Boss is Zambia’s largest online building materials marketplace for hardware stores and contractors. The platform benefits the construction sector by making high-quality construction materials available at an affordable price to anyone, anywhere in Zambia.

“What initially started as an online marketplace that streamlined the sourcing of building materials for hardware stores has evolved into an end-to-end B2B and B2C solution to address Africa’s $60 million housing deficit,” Chirwa, CEO of Bosso, told Disrupt Africa .

To date, the startup has recruited over 1,000 hardware stores in Zambia, provided source materials to over 200 home construction companies, and supplied construction materials to four of Zambia’s 10 provinces. The preseason round raised $400,000 Leonardo according to Vinci, Launch Africa Ventures, Renew capital, Change-Comand various business angels and will be used to expand operations on the domestic market and create new products.

“During the rest of this year and 2025, Bosso will transfer the two years of data it has acquired to its AI technology to dramatically reduce inefficiencies across the sector. We will launch a new platform that will complement the materials we already offer with basic services. Services such as land transportation, financing, “save now, pay later” and access to construction companies,” Chirwa said.

He said Bosso is on a mission to source materials for more than 5,000 homes in 2025 and will launch a seed round in August.

“The housing crisis is real and Africa needs a leader to tackle this problem because everyone deserves decent and affordable housing. We want to expand our mission across the continent, starting in South Africa, and also launch a new AI building materials assistant to accelerate our solution.”
