Iwi from across the country will gather at Ōmāhu Marae in Heretaunga today to explore an organizational framework capable of operationalizing Kotahitanga, or unity.

Ngāti Kahungunu will host participating masses in the second phase of the Hui Ā Motu movement, and the pōwhiri haka will begin at 9 a.m.

Kiingi Tuuheitia will participate in the pōwhiri and pass on mauri (life force) to the new hosts.

Earlier this year, more than 10,000 people attended a nationwide hui convened by Kiingi Tuuheitia at Tuurangawaewae Marae in Ngaaruawaahia to unite in opposition to government policies.

Ngāti Kahunggunu Chair Bayden Barber says kotahitanga is the most important, yet most difficult, element required if Māori want to make an impact and affect change.
