ABERDEEN, UK – OEG Renewables (OEGR) and Sojitz Machinery Corp (SOMAC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to provide pre-construction, operation and maintenance (O&M) and vessel-related services to offshore wind projects in Japan.

The combination will leverage OEGR’s experience in marine energy solutions with SOMAC’s domestic capabilities.

Japan wants to install 10 GW of capacity by 2030 and up to 35-40 GW by 2040, including floating offshore wind.

OEGR recently completed the operation and maintenance program for Ørsted’s Greater Changhua offshore wind farm in Taiwan.

SOMAC is a trading company focusing on equipment, materials and machines used in metallurgy, chemicals, energy, maritime, electronic devices and other industrial sectors.
