I made pizza in the Ninja Speedi “fast cooker” for my teenage son and it was a “game changer”

Isn’t the best part of summer drinking a little bit of everything together to feed the family?

We’ve had a good look around for the best zoo feeding deals, and the Ninja has really led the way in its gadget department – the Ninja Speedi is a hot new device that’s loaded with features and now significantly smaller. Consumer writer Laura McKenna tested her size and found that when she needs a quick change in tea, making her teenage son a quick pizza is a savior.

Here’s exactly how she did it:

As a person who feels like a bit of a fraud in the kitchen, I often look for innovative gadgets that supposedly help me in cooking. In an attempt to expand my limited cooking repertoire, I have enjoyed using many different kitchen gadgets over the years, with some proving much more successful than others.

So when I first heard about the Ninja Speedi 10 in 1 Pressure Cooker, my excitement knew no bounds. Already enchanted by my Instant Vortex Airfryer, my mind was racing with the possibilities of all the delicious creations I could try making with the Ninja, which promised to prepare entire meals in just 30 minutes.

As one of the UK’s most popular kitchen appliance brands, Ninja offers an exclusive range of fryers, health grills, multi-function ovens, smoothie makers and more. With the Ninja Speedi 10 in 1 now discounted to just £159 on the Ninja store as part of an exclusive offer that includes a stackable chopper in a can’t-miss package, you too can be the proud owner of my new-found kitchen favourite.

What is the Ninja Speedi 10 in 1 pressure cooker?

Offering a range of multicooker and air fryer functions, the Ninja Speedi 10-in-1 Pressure Cooker can be used as a steamer, grill, air fryer, roaster, dehydrator, fry pan and slow cooker. It also offers a new “Speedi Meals” feature that cooks food really quickly.

The “revolutionary” part of owning a Speedi is that the Speedi feature allows you to cook something delicious in just 30 minutes, while also offering a very efficient air fryer setting – giving you two cooking appliances in one. The Speedi Meals setting allows you to perfectly prepare “one-touch, one-pot meals in 15 minutes” from your choice of base product, vegetables and protein, while the fryer cooks evenly without the need for oil.

To make life even easier, the pan and crisper tray can be placed in the dishwasher after use, and the ability to cook everything in one device means there’s no need for burnt oven trays and dirty saucepans. I decided to test its culinary capabilities with something that even I couldn’t mess up, so I gathered some basics and set out to make one of the greatest dishes known to man, the humble pepperoni pizza.

Can you make pizza in Ninja Speedi?

With a generous 5.1L capacity, it certainly looks big enough to cook a well-rounded meal of protein, carbs, veggies, and other good stuff, but I was a little concerned about whether it would be big enough to fit in a medium-sized Pizza Pot. After preparing the pizza base with tomato sauce and a generous portion of cheese, I stood and stared at the Speedi for a good few minutes. Unsure which setting to choose, temperature or cooking time, I reached for my phone and asked Google.

After a quick browse through videos made by much better chefs than I ever had, I turned on the Speedi and was greeted with a welcome bell. Not yet ready to step into the unknown, I opted for air fryer mode for 10 minutes, planning to stop by halfway through.

Once my pizza base was pressed into the pot, it was time to open the lid and let the magic happen. When the display told me the Speedi was heating up, I anxiously waited nearby and hoped it would work since it was the only thing I had for dinner.

Halfway through the cooking time, I carefully opened the lid and saw that the bottom of the pizza was starting to brown and the cheese was starting to bubble. Delighted with my success so far, I added some pepperoni and a few balls of dough for good measure.

Don’t apply the glaze until the cheese begins to melt, as the rapid air frying can literally cause the pepperoni to melt all over. Luckily I learned about this from some guy on YouTube before I started cooking.

After ten minutes, it had cooked my pizza and additional doughy delights perfectly. Served with a salad, my hungry 13-year-old son tucked into it right away.

Even though my basic catering experiment was a success, I couldn’t help but think that, honestly, it would take just as long to cook in the oven. While the air frying capabilities of the Ninja Speedi were excellent, it was designed to offer much more.

Cup in hand, I sat on the sofa and stupidly watched YouTube as amateur chefs created an amazing array of appetizing-looking dinners. I also joined a Facebook page where I found photos of whole roasted chickens, countless meat and pasta dishes, and even the occasional cake.

Next time I try, I’ll use the highly praised Speedi Meals setting to create something truly magical. With the meal creation feature in the Ninja app and the recipe booklet included in the box, I’m sure I’ll be highly skilled in the culinary arts in no time.

The Ninja Speedi 10-in-1 has been reduced to £159 on the Ninja website in its latest stackable chopper pack, but if you’re looking for a cheaper alternative, Wowcher has a modern 12-in-1 12-in-1 digital oven and fryer in two colors for £49 £.99.
