The latest information on retirement, suspension, destinations

Labor now has a full slate of parliamentary candidates for the general election, having filled around 25 seats with retired, targeted, suspended and decorated candidates last week.

Below is the shortlist, with Welsh Labor’s two candidates for Resolution Foundation CEO Torsten Bell and Labour’s legal chief Alex Barros-Curtis, and the now likely choice of Hackney’s Diane Abbott, completing Labour’s long journey to a full shortlist across the country .

Panels of members of Labour’s national executive committee made nominations as the election approached, rather than taking a say from local parties and members.

Five pro-leadership members of the NEC itself have now been elected to these positions – chairman James Asser, Gurinder Singh Josan, Luke Akehurst, Unison’s Mark Ferguson and Usdaw’s Michael Wheeler – as well as Keir Starmer’s former adviser Chris Ward in Brighton after Lloyd’s last-minute re-selection Russell-Moyle, former Rachel Reeves adviser Heather Iqbal and director of the Starmerite Labor Together think tank Josh Simons.

Others elected this week include Brent councilor Shama Tatler, who will replace long-serving, now unselected Chingford and Woodford Green candidate Faiza Shaheen, and TUC head of campaigns and communications Antonia Bance in Tipton and Wednesbury.

The allocation of seats by NEC members to other NEC members was condemned by one union boss as a “job for the boys” and by the leftist electoral group Momentum, while critics called the stripping of seats a “purge” of the left. Thirteen of the following places were taken by men and nine by women. Shaheen is seeking a legal challenge to her de-selection, denouncing an alleged “factional agenda.”

Former leader of Brighton and Hove City Council Nancy Platts, PPC for Brighton Kemptown in 2015, questioned the fairness of the interview she went through for the position and claimed members were “furious” about it.

“After he (Russell-Moyle) was suspended, a number of local members asked me to stand… They felt that as someone who had been previously elected by members, had been a local councilor here for five years, had good name recognition in the area and had a 2015 halved the Tory majority, meaning I had the best chance of winning the seat.

“I spoke to Lloyd and with his support I put myself forward as a candidate for Brighton Kemptown. Everything happened very quickly yesterday and I’m glad that I was offered an online interview at 2:40 p.m. “I was later disappointed to learn that during my interview, Michael Crick had tweeted that the winning candidate would be Chris Ward.”

However, a Labor Party spokesman said: “We have selected a fantastic group of candidates for the general election on Thursday 4 July. They will campaign across the country to take Labour’s message of change to voters.”

The party source added that the prime minister’s announcement of surprise elections in the summer means the selections must be carried out through emergency procedures.

The election was held at the last minute after a flurry of Labor MPs announced they would stand down following the call of a general election last week. Some seats required a new Labor candidate due to the suspension of an incumbent MP, one new constituency needed a candidate, and for some non-Labor seats there was either never a candidate, a candidate stood down, or (in the case of Faiza Shaheen) was deselected.

Here is our rolling list of selected candidates, which will be updated with new announcements as we receive them:
